5 Ways to Prevent Hair Loss
Whether it is hereditary, medical or after childbirth.. balding, hair thinning and Hair loss is a stressful time for both men and women. Either way, there is a Hair Loss treatment out there to help with all of your concerns.
Depending where you are on the Norwood scale, this depends on which treatment would be most suitable for you.
The Norwood scale is a measurement scale used to classify the extent and the stages of male pattern baldness. It is generally used by practitioners and doctors as a standard to describe hair loss and evaluate the severity of baldness in a patient and to recommend most suitable treatment for optimum results.
Stage 1 & 2: Sometimes referred to as a juvenile hairline, in this stage there is a very minor recession of the hairline or typically symmetrical areas of recession at the front temporal area, but in general hair loss remains ahead of a line several centimetres in front of the ears. In this instance, a treatment such as LED light therapy or PRP is ideal.
Stage 3 – 5: Most scalps at this stage have a deep symmetrical recession showing at the temples that are completely bare or just sparsely covered by hair. This is the point of the Norwood hair loss scale where many men begin to seriously consider a treatment to prevent a further hair loss such as LED light therapy, PRP or even a Hair Transplant.Hair Loss London
Stages 6 & 7: The only hair that remains at this stage is a strip wrapping from one side to the other on the head in a horseshoe shape. This hair may be less dense than before; however, it can be used as a donor area in case of a hair transplant.
1. PRP
PRP is a protein rich plasma which is taken from the blood and injected to the site where hair loss has occurred. This injectable treatment helps the hair to gain the nutrients needed to be strong and grow through an expedited rate. The normal amount of sessions to see results are between 3-6 every 4 weeks but studies show to get the best results and longevity, 6-10 treatments are advised. 2. DHT BLOCKER SHAMPOO
DHT is a hormone that is produced in the head and attacks the Hair follicle making it weak and more likely to fall out. With a good natural DHT blocker shampoo your hair will feel stronger, thicker and reduces the risk of hair loss.
3. LED LIGHT THERAPY
Laser Light therapy helps stimulate the hair growth through Red LED lights to help with the circulation of blood. Although this treatment is effective, this treatment on its own, is not as effective as PRP with LED Therapy. LED hair loss therapy is a non-invasive, safe, and clinically validated procedure for stimulating hair follicles to develop fuller, thicker hair. The powerful clinical-strength laser devices, also known as red light therapy, treat hair loss, male pattern baldness, and alopecia in both men and women. 4. B12 INJECTIONS
Hair is made of a protein called keratin. This substance is dead, which is why it doesn’t hurt when you get your hair cut. But, your hair follicles, located just under the surface of your skin, are very much alive. The bulb, which is the bottom part of the follicle, is made up of the fastest growing cells in the human body, dividing every 23 to 72 hours. At the base of the bulb is the papilla, which contains blood vessels. Its main job is to connect your follicles to your body’s blood supply to deliver the oxygen and nutrients necessary for hair growth. Since B12 helps produce red blood cells, having enough of this vitamin is essential to the hair growth process. When hair loss and/or hair thinning is an issue, you will require periodic B12 injections encouraging regrowth. For more information about B12 please click here.
5. REGULAR SCALP MASSAGES
Regular scalp massages increase the blood flow to the scalp intern gives the hair the stimulation it needs to help grow. This on its own will not show drastic results but great for long term Maintanence and long term prevention.
If you find yourself anywhere past Norwood level 5 we would recommend PRP in the Donor Area to strengthen the hair follicle before undergoing a hair transplant.
